The export turnover of the second phase of the Canton Fair exceeded 45 million dollars

The second phase of the 133rd China Import Export Fair ie Canton Fair concluded on April 27. Around 12,000 exhibitors participated in the second phase, during which light industrial products such as daily consumer goods, gifts and home decorations were displayed. According to statistics from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, the exhibition hall closed on April 26, by that time, 815,000 people entered the exhibition hall in the second phase of the Canton Fair, the export turnover exceeded 45 million dollars.

The current Canton Fair held an import exhibition for the first time in the second phase. Enterprises from the “Belt and Road” countries actively participated in the exhibition. A total of 370 enterprises from 22 countries and regions participated in the exhibition, accounting for more than 70 percent of the total number of enterprises participating in the import exhibition.

Huo Qianquo, vice president of the China World Trade Organization Research Institute, pointed out that Southeast Asian economies maintained a rapid growth momentum in this Canton Fair. New major spillover effects have arisen from the engagement between China and the RCEP market, which has created strong support for China’s continued expansion of bilateral trade. He also said that improving relations between China and major countries in the Middle East will provide new potential growth points for China’s trade development. Meanwhile, Latin American and African markets remain stable and still have the potential to expand exports.

Trade between China and the countries and regions along the “Belt and Road” is expanding rapidly. The current Canton Fair has provided a “fast track” for enterprises in the “Belt and Road” countries and regions to sell local products and services to China. In the Canton Fair, 508 companies from 40 countries and regions participated in the exhibition, of which companies from the “Belt and Road” countries and regions accounted for 73 percent.
