Defamation case: Rahul Gandhi did not get relief from the court, the punishment will remain intact, Congress will go to High Court
internet desk, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has not been granted relief by the Sessions Court of Surat city of Gujarat; regarding the remark regarding Modi surname. He had filed a petition to stay his sentence, which has been rejected by the court. Now Rahul Gandhi has no option but to go to the High Court.
In this case, Sessions Court Judge RP Mogera said only one word on this petition in the court – Dismiss. On April 13, after hearing the arguments of both the sides, the judge had reserved the verdict on the matter. On this matter, Rahul had appealed to stay the conviction and sentence of 2 years.
Let us tell you that this case is related to Rahul’s statement given during the election rally in Bengaluru in 2019. Gujarat’s BJP MLA Purnesh Modi had filed a defamation case on this statement. After which on March 23, the court sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years imprisonment and the next day his membership of Parliament was cancelled.
